Letter from 21st Century Intellectual Property Coalition to Senate party leaders urges support for United States Patent and Trademark Fee Modernization Act of 2004

Senate Judiciary Committee endorses H.R. 1561
Link: The Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday voted to endorse H.R. 1561. The bill now passes to the whole Senate.
Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Patent Busting Project
Link: The EFF has announced the creation of a “patent-busting campaign” directed at “illegitimate” software and internet patents. According to the press release, the campaign will include filing of reexamination requests for patents that the EFF beleieves adversely affect consumers and small businesses.

This is a modified version of a previously posted picture. The plate is a cast iron marking plate that lists various dates of patents. I do not know the nature of the item to which the marking plate was attached, but I’m guessing it was a large machine of some sort.

RIAA Clean Slate program wiped
Link: From the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the RIAA Clean Slate Program has been dismantled. The RIAA claims that the program was ended because it achieved its goal: increasing consumer awareness of the problem. The EFF suspects other reasons for the termination of the program.
Patent war over plasma displays is heating up
